Green papaya salad

How Paul McCartney saved me $350. Last week the wife asked if I wanted to go see Paul McCartney. Since the only ad I'd seen mentioned a Wednesday concert, I said no, but it turns out there were also Saturday and Sunday shows, so I relented and she sent off $350 for two tickets for Sunday. Yesterday, Paul came up ill and had to cancel the Saturday show, but rescheduled it for Monday and said he was looking forward to the Sunday show. Well, I don't think anyone believed that if he was sick enough to cancel Saturday he would be well enough to perform on Sunday, but there was no word on-line, so we headed out to the stadium only to find on arrival that alas he was still sick and both the Sunday and Monday shows were cancelled. I'm OK with missing the show -- I'd seen him perform about 20 years ago -- but I feel sorry for the wife. She was a huge Beatles fan and was really looking forward to the concert. Now all we have to do is send in for a refund.

 

As consolation, we stopped at the Viet Nam Garden restaurant for a truly lovely dinner.
