En principe le Machaon vole d'Avril à Septembre, avec une première génération issue de chrysalides hivernantes. La seconde génération émane bien sûr de la première, et les émergences se produisent le plus souvent en Juillet.
Ce papillon est un excellent voilier, avec un vol planant particulièrement efficace et spectaculaire. C'est aussi un solitaire, plutôt adepte de la bougeotte et des grands espaces, d'où des incursions généralement assez brèves dans nos jardins ....encore que le potager puisse retenir son attention !

In principle the Swallowtail flies from April to September, with a first generation of wintering chrysalis. The second generation emanates of course from the first, and the emergences occur most often in July.
This butterfly is an excellent sailboat, with a gliding flight particularly effective and spectacular. It is also a lonely, rather adept of the fickle and wide open spaces, from where incursions generally rather brief in our gardens ... still that the vegetable garden can hold his attention!
