Stream restoration in Hopewell, Va.

New wetland plants, log sills and rock cross vanes are part of a stream restoration along the Riverside Park Greenway in Hopewell, Va., on May 3, 2019. The project was completed with funds from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality and the city of Hopewell. It will remove 453 pounds of phosphorus, 1,616 pounds of nitrogen and 78,843 pounds of sediment pollution from reaching the Appomattox and James Rivers.
