The Hobbit Minifigure Display

Ah yes, the quarantine life is the life for me. After nearly three continuous years (summers included!) of being separated from my beloved bricks almost year-round, fate has reunited us once more.

The new free time has allowed me to build a little more leisurely than my typical "OMG BRICKWORLD IS COMING" pace, and I've taken up some projects that I literally shelved years ago. One of the largest personal projects I would still like to do is create a custom display for my 200 some Harry Potter minifigures. It's quite a daunting project, so I figured I had best practice on a smaller scale. The Hobbit's thirteen dwarves lended a perfect solution. We can all say what we will about the films themselves, but LEGO did a fantastic job recreating the dwarves' likeness in minifigure form, and these have always held a special place in my heart.

The build itself, while seemingly quite clean and straightforward on the outside, was quite complex and had me exploring some new techniques. I was able to pump out the model in about five hours. I've grown used to building such massive models, but I love the amount of detail I'm able to incorporate into something smaller like this. I'll definitely be trying my hand at similarly scaled models in the future.

Thanks for checking it out! Happy building and stay safe.
