Greater Angle-Winged Katydid on a Daylily

Normally this creature would be a darker, solid shade of green, but this is a erythrism color variation or color morph that sometimes happens to about 1 in 100 of these insects.

Its quite stunning really. The pink and pale green/blue is a crazy mix of colors. The orange/yellow on its lens is some of the pollen from the flower.

I found this one in my garden climbing on some of the stems and flowers. It was warming itself in the morning sun.

Katydids are related to crickets and grasshoppers. I believe this is a younger one as its wings aren't fully developed yet.

Shot using a Tokina AT-X Macro 90mm f2.5 lens and a 10mm extension tube.
