Introspection

Surajkund Fair Delhi.

 

I took this photograph in the Suraj Kund Fair in Delhi. The unusual setting of this scene intrigued me. Usually this is a common imagery of an Indian housewife, confined inside the four walls of her house looking into the mirror. But these two young women, in a village fare came across this huge wall hanging mirror, which was displayed, could not help but stop to admire it. The image on one hand truly reflects Indian women's affinity towards her culture and tradition. On other hand the setting of the image brings out the contract between the past and the present, the changing face of time.
