Calliandra tweedii

Calliandra tweedii ("borla de obispo", "plumerillo rojo", "arbusto de la llama") es un arbusto nativo de Brasil, Uruguay, Argentina y Paraguay utilizado como ornamental en muchas partes del mundo debido a sus bellas flores de color rojo intenso.

Calliandra, del griego kalli = hermoso y andros = masculino, refiriéndose a sus estambres bellamente coloreados; y tweedii, en honor del botánico J. Tweedie (1775-1862).

 

Calliandra tweedii ("tassel bishop", "Plumerillo red", "flaming bush") is a shrub native to Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay used as an ornamental in many parts of the world because of its beautiful deep red flowers .

Calliandra, from the Greek kalli = beautiful and andros = male, referring to its beautifully colored stamens, and tweedii, in honor of the botanist J. Tweedie (1775-1862).
