Faithful Customer

Near the mitigation area beside the 83rd overpass, rough path above Skunk Creek embankment, Peoria

Arizona. One of all too few butterflies seen around the creek this summer. Very likely the drought and the near complete absence of native flowering plants earlier in the season has something to do with the paucity of native insect life. In the spring the alien species of flora - Globe Chamomile and Little Mallow especially - were able to make the most of whatever moisture remained in the soil from last year's rains, flourishing to the detriment of native annuals.
