Neither End, Nor Beginning || Ni Final, Ni Comienzo (Twomilegate at Lough Dergh, Killaloe; County Clare. Ireland)

2020 was going to be one of the busiest years of our lives, and 12 months later we were only able to leave Ireland just before the pandemic exploded in March, with immense luck as the borders closed the day after our flight back from Portugal. On the way there were canceled trips to Holland, Spain a couple of times, Venice and Slovenia. Even when the situation improved in the summer we were not able to leave because of our jobs. However, we consider ourselves fortunate, as we have been able to take several weekend trips around the island, as well as exploring the Causeway Coastal Route in Northern Ireland and the Wild Atlantic Way in Ireland for two incredible weeks in late September.
Before the situation deteriorated again in the last few days and mobility was again limited, with the third lockdown that begins today, we were able to spend a day in Killaloe, a beautiful town in County Clare, bathed by Loch Dergh and the River Shannon. Despite the cold, and the constant rain, there were moments during the day when the rain stopped, and this moment at twilight was one of them. Long enough for my wife to take off her winter clothes and walk through this pier to pose magnificently in this photograph, to which I have tried to add a touch of drama accentuated by the leafless branches of the trees and the storm clouds at the bottom. Neither end, nor beginning, 2021 is a continuation of this new reality that we are living, and from this hard experience we can always become wiser.

2020 iba a ser uno de los años con más viajes de nuestra vida, y 12 meses después sólo hemos podido salir de Irlanda justo antes de que explotara la pandemia en Marzo, con una suerte inmensa ya que cerraron las fronteras un día después de nuestro vuelo de vuelta desde Portugal. Por el camino quedaron viajes cancelados a Holanda, España un par de veces, Venecia y Eslovenia. Ni siquiera cuando la situación mejoró en verano pudimos salir debido a nuestros trabajos. No obstante, nos consideramos afortunados, ya que hemos podido hacer varios viajes de fin de semana por la isla, además de recorrer la Causeway Coastal Route en Irlanda del Norte y la Wild Atlantic Way en Irlanda durante dos semanas increíbles a finales de Septiembre.
Antes de que la situación volviera a deteriorarse durante los últimos días y limitaran de nuevo la movilidad, con el tercer confinamiento que hoy comienza, pudimos pasar una jornada en Killaloe, un bonito pueblo en el Condado de Clare, bañado por el Lago Dergh y el río Shannon. A pesar del frío, y de la lluvia constante, hubo momentos durante el día en el que cesó la lluvia, y este instante al crepúsculo fue uno de ellos. Tiempo suficiente para que mi mujer se quitara la ropa de abrigo y caminara por esta pasarela para posar magníficamente en esta fotografía, a la que he intentado dar un toque de dramatismo acentuado por las ramas sin hojas de los árboles y las nubes de tormenta que se ven al fondo. Ni final, ni comienzo, 2021 es una continuación de esta nueva realidad que nos está tocando vivir, y de cuya dura experiencia siempre se puede salir más sabios.
