A New Day || Un Nuevo Día (Camilo Beach, Lagos; Algarve. Portugal)

A few kilometers away from the center of Lagos, is located what is possibly the most charming beach in this town of the Algarve. There are many coves around here, all surrounded by the impressive cliffs characteristic of this area of the southern coast of Portugal, but Camilo Beach was undoubtedly my favorite. Perhaps because of its long wooden walkway that winds towards the sea and suddenly reveals an impressive view. Although we went there at the beginning of March, we were lucky to have incredible temperatures to enjoy the beach on our first day in the Algarve, having a part of it (accessed through a tunnel in the rock when the tide is high) to ourselves.

The next morning I head back to this place to photograph the sunrise. Still in the dark night I went down the stairs to the point that I had found the day before for my composition. Full of emotions in front of the sea, I waited for the sunrise to approach, but moments before the landscape was filled with magenta and purple colors that I´ve used as the base of the image. On this occasion, I´ve chosen for my photography the moment when the sun begins to appear and is still cut in two by the horizon. An instant that marks the beginning of a new day, of new opportunities to continue enjoying life and creating wonderful memories and images.

A pocos kilómetros del centro de Lagos se encuentra la que posiblemente es la playa con más encanto de esta localidad del Algarve. Son muchas las calas que por aquí se encuentran, todas rodeadas de los impresionantes acantilados característicos de esta zona de la costa sur de Portugal, pero la "Praia do Camilo" fue sin duda mi favorita. Quizás por su larga pasarela de madera que serpentea hacia el mar y nos revela de pronto una vista impresionante. A pesar de que fuimos a primeros de marzo, tuvimos la suerte de gozar de una temperatura increíble para disfrutar de la playa en nuestro primer día en el Algarve, teniendo una parte de la misma (a la que se accede por un túnel en la roca cuando la marea está alta) para nosotros solos.

A la mañana siguiente me dirigí de nuevo a este lugar para fotografiar el amanecer. Todavía en la oscuridad de la noche bajé las escaleras hasta el punto que había encontrado el día anterior para mi composición. Lleno de emociones frente al mar esperé a que se aproximara la salida del sol, pero instantes antes el paisaje se llenó de colores magentas y púrpuras que he usado como base de esta imagen. En esta ocasión, he elegido para mi fotografía el momento en el que el sol empieza a aparecer y aún se corta en dos por el horizonte. Un instante que marca el comienzo de un nuevo día, de nuevas oportunidades para seguir disfrutando la vida y creando memorias e imágenes maravillosas.
