Glendalough roundtower, Ireland

 

This is the old belltower used to call the monks to prayer. The doorway is twelve feet off the ground and was reached by a ladder which could be pulled up if invaders were around. So beautiful in the late afternoon after the rain ceased, especially with all the Celtic crosses catching the light.
