Litter from Gannett
In 2008, I filed two Better Business Bureau complaints against the Tennessean (37048607 and 37047869), a Gannett newspaper, for deceptive business practices. This morning, I filed yet another (#37072813) after witnessing this garbage being tossed onto my and all my neighbor's lawns Saturday.
The complaint is two fold. First, I'm not, nor have I ever been, a customer of this company. This company knows it and had Tennessean Customer Service Director Diane Bond call me and assure me this would never happen again. Despite that and BBB filings, this company continues to trash my lawn with their unwanted product.
Second, this company is deceiving local advertisers by telling them I am one of thousands of qualified customers who legitimately received their advertisement in "YES! The Essential Shopper." The Tennessean paid someone to drive around and toss thousands of these on people's lawns who never wanted to see their ad and did not. This company is also telling future ad buyers that same lie, that thousands of qualified customers will see their ad. Every company's CEO in this edition of YES! will get a copy of this filing and previous filings.
The requested action in this BBB filing reasonably asks the Tennessean to come to my property and remove their trash. It's an opportunity for someone to spend a good portion of their day pondering this company's poor business practices, and just maybe remembering to never treat me and local businesses this way again.
