Field trip in Ethiopia
On October 19-20 2018, CCAFS and partners visited the Doyogena climate-smart landscape site, Doyogena district, Kembata Tembaro zone, Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region (SNNPR) of Ethiopia.
The field visit aimed to explore the opportunities of designing and implementing solar and renewable energy-based irrigation systems with a focus on addressing the critical water-related need to have year round (both main and dry season) crop and livestock feed production in the region to increase livelihoods, diversify diet and income and enhance resilience and adaptive capacity and where possible reduce GHG emissions and sequester carbon in agricultural landscape using gender sensitive climate smart practices and technologies at scale.
