arch of constantine

one of the great monuments of the roman empire. The Arch of Constantine is situated between the Colosseum and the Palatine Hill. It was erected to commemorate Constantine I's victory over Maxentius at the Battle of Milvian Bridge on October 28, 312 AD. Dedicated in 315, it was made of re-used materials from older monuments, and some of the soldiers in the details were wearing armour not worn for over a hundred years.
