It took him 33 years, a 100 years ago for a single man to build this. Postman Cheval didn't have an education as architect and his inspiration were the images he saw for faraway places in the postcards he delivered.

 

He took the stones in the way to work, first in his pockets, after in a wheelbarrow and worked by night.
