balanced on impossibly long legs
A pair of black-winged stilts (himantopus himantopus), both standing on one leg, I photographed near Panama, in Sri Lanka. These birds are renown for their very long legs - but their still water reflections give the illusion of impossibly long limbs. The bird on the left is a male, displaying the reason for the species' name; by contrast, the female, on the right, has a brownish wings.
