Concrete Bridge Over Addington Rd. - Northbrook

The original Addington Colonization Road was built in 1854 and was one of the colonization roads constructed in Ontario. This bridge in Northbrook is over a creek just north of the village and was likely built when Highway #41 was constructed over parts of the original Addington Road in 1935.

It is interesting to note how narrow the bridge is compared to today's standards. Today's snowplow may not fit through the bridge. Today, ATVs use the bridge to cross the creek.

Many old bridges had dates inscribed into the concrete. No date is visible on this bridge.
