MIT Museum: TX-2 Magnetic Core Memory, "fast 64k-word index memory"

The label reads:

"TX-2 Magnetic Core Memory, Lincoln Laboratory, developed 1952-1959. The TX-2 had three core memories. This is the fast 64k-word index memory."

This module is about the size of a dishwasher or laundry machine. I'm pretty sure the control strip on my dishwasher at home has significantly more than 64kb of memory today, and it probably cost about a penny to manufacture the part. We've come a long way in 50 years, eh?
