Red Sox vs. Orioles at Fenway Park, May 31 2005: Panoramic view from the .406 Club

Fenway Park has had various configurations for the section high above home plate.

When the section was built in 1988, it was the 600 Club, named for the 600 seats enclosed behind the glass. As of the 2002 season, it was renamed the .406 Club in honor of Ted Williams and his 1941 batting average. That's the name the section had when Kaite & I got to attend a game in May, 2005. Later, the section was remodeled, the glass wall was removed, and it was renamed after local companies EMC and State Street Bank.

Anyway, as for this game, it was the Red Sox against the Baltimore Orioles, who were in first place at the time, and won 8-1 that night. The Orioles ended up finishing 4th in the American League East with a record of 74 wins and 88 losses, while the Red Sox, who had won their first World Series in 86 years the year before, ended up (per Wikipedia):

The Boston Red Sox' 2005 season included the Boston Red Sox attempting to win the American League East in the American League. The Red Sox finished 95-67 and with the same record as the New York Yankees, but although the Yankees had won more previous games, they won the American League East and the Red Sox had to settle for the American League Wild Card.
