Sierra Buttes 7
After I’d hiked to the Sierra Buttes lookout, which can be seen very small in this frame sitting atop the highest prominence, on this wonderful summer day I began to drive back to camp for a well earned steak and cocktail. However, my return drive was delayed a bit as I saw this scene unfold. I made a quick U-turn and drove the mile or so back up the hill above the trees and arrived to a clearing with about a minute to spare before the sun disappeared below the horizon and cast the buttes in deep shadow. I think it was worth the delay in dinner even if I’d worked up quite the appetite on the nearly 7 mile round trip hike.
