Osprey Thief Triptych
While my son was reeling in a small trout on Baum Lake in Shasta County, California, USA an osprey swooped in from a nearby tree and tried to steal his fish. I already had my camera aimed in the right direction so I grabbed a burst of frames of the action. These are my three favorite frames assembled in a triptych showing the moment just after the bird grabbed the fish out of the water followed by trying to get a better grasp of it, and the moment just after dropping the fish.
Ultimately, after what had to be one crazy roller-coaster ride for the trout, it was reeled in and released mostly unscathed (at least physically).
