Sotto i portici - Under the arcades

Formerly, before the eleventh century, the village of Montecatini Val di Cecina was known as Monte Leone (Castrum Montis Leonis), so as to compare the bull of the Bishop of Volterra in 1099. Over the centuries the territory was long disputed between Pisa and Volterra, to finally pass under the control of Florence in 1472.
