Cha X Davis
Ester Ice Queen
It's not been an incredibly fecund period of productivity here lately. There was the Big Chicken Dust Up, which flipped the previously harmonious dynamic of the flock on its head and necessitated giving Roxy away. That was tough, having hand raised her. But she's off kicking butts and taking names at a neighboring flock. It's now just Ester and Vivienne and there is no more bloodshed and, if possible, Ester and I are more bonded than ever. Being hen pecked (talking about chickens makes you pause so often and think, huh, well, THAT's where that came from...) really made Ester seek out my comfort and allowed petting and lap sitting and once even ran her head along my leg, in a motion very like a cat. She's recovered her aplomb and is now more her old takin-care-of-business self, but she will now come sit on the step with me and will lean into me while I pet her.
I'm unable to get a good capture of Ester Ice Queen, but for the record, gluing tiny white beads on a white background (her comb and beak) isn't anything I plan to repeat any day soon.
