The Hardy Tree, ashtree (Fraxinus excelsior) , St. Pancras Churchyard. London. During the 1860s the Midland Railwayline was being built over part of the original St. Pancras Churchyard. Thomas Hardy supervise the exhumation of human remains and the dismantling of tombs from the land on which the railway was being built.
