Wells Cathedral, Somerset - The West Front

Wells Cathedral in Somerset, UK, is often considered one of the finest Gothic structures in Europe, and certainly amongst the most beautiful. Described as the "most poetic" of English cathedrals, it has an artistic unity and flair only seen in a select few buildings.

The West Front at Wells is a masterpiece in its own right, being 145 feet wide and 100 feet high to the top of the gable. It contains several hundred statue niches, of varying sizes, and was described by Alec Clifton-Taylor as "one of the great sights of England". The western towers framing the facade are 124 feet high.
