6 Legged Spider 1619
I was sitting on the ground with my macro lens taking shots of this small web with the dew drops, when all of a sudden this HUGE spider crawled into view. It startled me and I jumped back! Then I looked again (without the lens) and laughed. It was just a tiny spider! Although I'm not as afraid of spiders as I used to be (since I've been photographing them), I'll still react when one startles me. I've learned that's the amygdala part of the brain reacting. It feels fear before the reasoning part of the brain can figure out that there's no danger.
This spider was just 1/2 inch long or less. I must have disturbed something and she came out to check on her web. She sat here for a while and let me photograph her.
