New Siggy Fitty Wide Open
These are a couple shots I took after un-boxing the new Sigma 50mm 1.4 I purchased. I needed a new prime to go along with my Nikkor 35mm due to a growing amount of requests for portrait work and different photoshoots, including a couple small weddings coming up. I spent alot of time going back and forth between the Nikkor 50mm 1.4 and the Sigma, and I went with the better bokeh option, and also the fact that I had the Sigma 30mm 1.4 which I loved, but sold to purchase this. The only knocks on it were the size/weight which I actually like better, and also the chance that the focus could be off, but I never had an issue with the 30mm, it was spot on from the time I got, never had to have it recalibrated.
Well....I pulled the trigger on the Sigma, it showed up today, and I got shot in the foot...the AF was off by close to an inch, not even close. Amazon was great though, I immediately called them, they are shipping a new one over-night, and once I get it and it hopefully focuses spot on, I can return this one. If not, they'll send me a third, but hopefully it wont come to that.
I took these shots manually focusing them, and besides the focusing issue, I absolutely love it. So, needless to say, Im looking forward to getting the new one to see if it focuses correctly, then I can get shooting, and post some good shots up tomorrow night. Wish me luck.
