I will add this to my "reasons to look down" list.
Have a likely ID for this critter - "Tortoise Beetle" or Chelymorpha cribraria. When I first spotted it, it appeared to me as a solid gold bug, then getting closer, assumed that I had not noticed the spots and red bands from a distance. Reading about it, I learned that their color will change when "excited". Wish I would have gotten a quick shot of his "calm" look also...
