An Ancient spectre-cle
The chapel, known locally as Lydiate Abbey, was built around the 1500s for the Ireland family, Lawrence Ireland and his wife Catherine Blundell. The Ireland family held the Lydiate lordship from 1410 to 1673, and the chapel was used for their private worship. It is believed it was abandoned in 1550 when practising the Catholic religion was prohibited following Henry VIII's Dissolution of the Monasteries. The graveyard on the grounds was used until the late 1800s. Knowing to be haunted by a monk and cries from sacrificial babies.
With help from the moonlight and a torch to light up the interior and windows.
