A Remarkable Curriculum Vitae
BRUNO and his twin sister HELLA, (mother Kessie, father Max, both born in the wild), were born in Zoo Munich (Tierpark Hellabrunn) in February 18, 1969.
Orangutan twins are most seldom. As their mother Kessi did not know how to raise two babies at the same time, the twins had only one chance to survive - and that was intensive care in a hospital for neonatals (Munich-Schwabing) ! Bruno was so weak that he had to be raised in an incubator for some time. They both survived and were well and after 10 months of intensive care they could move back into the zoo. Bruno, became the clan chef of the Munich Orang Utan Group and proud father of 31 offsprings. His three youngest ones were born in 2016 and 2017 (TP Hellabrunn/Munich Zoo).
After two myocardial infarctions Bruno had revovered and was closely monitored by the vets. But in the last days his health conditions deteriorated and after he had shown clear signs that he could not and did not want to live any longer the ethical commission of the zoo decided to let him go ……
Bruno died July 19, 2018 at the age of 49 years and he will be missed by his numerous friends
