I am going to be away....at the beach, in Rockport, Mass. for the weekend. A few weeks ago, a very dear friend had to go for an MRI...it is not something that she enjoys and asked that i tag along for "support"....since you are not supposed to laugh or move so much as an eyelash, i could not understand why she chose ME....all i do is make her laugh, with my inane comments and dryly sarcastic humor. It was the longest hour i have ever had to keep my mouth shut!! A few days later, she stopped in, handed my daughter a small book and asked that she give it to me when i got home. It is without a doubt, one of my most treasured possesions...it is like it was written just for me. it is hard to explain how i feel when i read it...and i have read it over and over again. the closest thing i can say is that it makes my insides glow!
And so it begins....
"At the beach, life is different. A day moves not from hour to hour but leaps from mood to moment. We go with the currents, plan around the tides, follow the sun. We measure happiness by nothing we can hold. Nothing we can catch." i will periodically be illustrating excerpts of this in hopes of getting through my dreaded winter...but i thought i would start now, as i leave for a last hurrah before heading back into the classroom on Tuesday....i hope you enjoy!
