My rescue kitty about 4 years old...intensely annoying but oh so pretty and very talented. She catches and fetches pingpong balls so you can bounce them for her over and over again! I have lost count how many times i have used the “cat spooker” on her...or how often i have threatened to put her back in the barn where i found her. She just does not care. She is the epitome of feline.
Once again i caught her on top of the island sitting next to the fruit basket...she is the only one that persists on being on top of counters, hutches, cabinets, and even on the tiny ridge around the range hood!! She should have been born with wings!!
Her 1/2 sister Aura is not like this at all. She minds her own business and rarely gets into things. She does have a bad habit of growling as you pass by while she eats, but that is the feral in her, exposing itself. Found her in the barn 2 years after Kohl. Same mom, same color as Kohl, but a Maine Coon for a dad, so she is incredibly hairy!
Loki....my old dude is almost 15. He is in some stage of Kidney failure and so had gotten very thin and needs a special diet. He has been sick since October and dropping weight like mad. After about $600.00 in vet bills they finally saw the problem in the kidneys...no tests showed anything until this week, when the blood work showed elevated kidney levels. THAT of course was also after the $450.00 ultrasound which did not show anything other than a slight abnormality is the symmetry of the kidneys. Thus the need for another $200.00 in blood work.
Now we get to the fun part. He has to travel to NC with us so he can have his meds and special diet. Never mind that it says to MINIMIZE STRESS on him while you give the meds and try to feed him 6 times a day in small snippets that take 20 to 30 minutes each. Oh, and yeah....a litter box in the car sounds really fun, does it not!?? just shoot me! i had arranged for a series of friends (REALLY SWEET, WONDERFUL friends) to take turns checking him during the day...one to give the meds and 2 to check on him for the mini meals....i set up a calendar and got everything all taken care of and then, the other half decided that ONLY he knows what is best for the cat and HE is BRINGING the cat.
i have thrown in the towel, after mentioning that i am NOT on board with this plan and that i do not feel it is in the best interest of the cat. He is old. He does not like change. He is not feeling top of his game at the moment, and the crate and car are not his favorite thing on a 5 minute ride to the vet, let alone a 4.5 hour ride to Manassas with an over night stop, in order to wake and do another 4.5 hours to NC on Saturday. But what do i know, right!??
I now am leaving it all in God’s hands ....and just trying to breathe.
