'Forecast today ... '

I thought this image (from years gone by) a suitable post for today given that they are forecasting light snow this afternoon ... time to put the winter tires on the car ... they won't come off until April. :)

'Autumn Falls'

 

Autumn has fallen with its dismal grays,

Occluding light and warmth of Summer days.

Bright hued leaves sun’s final array,

Reds and golds their dying display,

Until wind and wet tear them from trees

And lay them to rest through winter’s freeze.

Farewell the long hours of prominent sun

As dusk pervades and gloom has won.

Unyielding steel skies, impervious, unfold

And spike the heart with cheerless cold.

Take up a lament for autumn’s chill

And Winter snows that make all still.

Although dark and loss do dismay,

The darkest night gives way to day.

A strident hope profits cheer,

For steadfast Spring will reappear

As surely, as night gives way to dawn,

Faith ignites and gloom is gone.
