La Tour de Vinde

Built in 1808 in the Napoleonic Wars, La Tour de Vinde is one of eight Martello Towers built in Jersey in 1808–14 and 1834-37. In WWII the German’s adapted some of them for their own purposes. La Tour de Vinde (also called Noirmont Tower) was armed with an 18pdr carronade at the base and another on the top platform. In 1915 a marine light was fitted on the top platform.
