What a delight! Astro Dripping Bonnet (Roridomyces austrororidus)

Astro Dripping Bonnet (Roridomyces austrororidus).

What an absolute delight to find these tiny beauties. They were really tiny, the tallest standing no more than 15mm.

It's Autumn in New Zealand and full-on fungi time. I'm a fungi fanatic photographer, rather than an eater of my finds. I think the really tiny ones are especially delightful and can't tell you how excited I become when I see their perfection through the lens. I work at making each photo a complete scene in itself and shiny specimens like these are some of my absolute favourites.

Found along School Road Track, Paihia, Bay of Islands, NZ
