Project Description: Cementless implant fixation relies on bone ingrowth into porous surfaces at the bone-implant interface. This project, led by Dr Athina Markaki and funded by the European Research Council, aims to enhance bone growth into porous implant surfaces by applying therapeutic levels of strain through deformation of magneto-active fibre networks with an applied magnetic field.
