M42, the Great Nebula in Orion. I took 15 1-minute lights with and without a dual narrow band filter and blended the stacked images in PS using screen. I'm not sure what screen does, but it seemed to bring out the surrounding nebulosity best. I then used a shareware called GraXpert to remove gradients. The image is over processed, but I had fun. The Trapezium blows out the central area of the nebula. I will try to use HDR techniques next time if I get a clear night before Orion fades into the west.

TMB 80mm f/6.3 refractor, Orion field flattener, ASI533MC, dual narrow band filter, 15 1-minute subs each with and without filter.

January 16, 2025; Backyard, Tallahassee, Florida. Bortle 7 sky. A night starting with clear skies but poor seeing. High cirrus moved in during imaging. Waning moon approximately 75% illuminated. Guiding total error was about 1.5 arcsec.
