Caliper Studio designed a stainless steel cast glass lens floor system for the lobby of the Metropol in Williamsburg Brooklyn. Its design borrows ideas and techniques from the front facade of the Cassandra cinema also designed by Caliper Studio. Each cast glass lens is sandwiched between steel bottom and stainless steel top bent panels. The steel bars provide additional spanning capability, while the wood strips connect top and bottom panels to ensure that they act as one unit.
