I took this picture of the side of a building in downtown Phoenix. The lines formed by the varying building materials and two pipes caught my eye. I used Photoshop to convert it to black and white and to do other minor touch-ups.
The rectangular shape is evident in this photo with the main concrete wall, but I also like the small amount of gray brick to the left side of the frame. It shows a contrast of not only materials but also light, tone, and shape. The pipes offer lines that not only travel parallel to the side of the rectangle, but also curve to invite the brick section of the building into the photograph.
