For most runners, Tuesdays are speed work days. I am in the middle to late stages of my Boston Marathon build which means my speed sessions have shifted away from track workouts to running at 'threshold' pace (roughly equal to my 10K race pace). This morning's workout was eight miles at threshold pace, aiming for 6:15-6:20 per mile, with only thirty seconds of rest in between each repeat. If you add on the two miles of warm up and two miles of cool down, it turned into a twelve mile run.
So back to the photo. The sun has been rising earlier in the morning lately and the early morning light has such a beautiful quality to it. I was cleaning some spots off my sunglasses when I noticed how brilliant the reflection was. And there you have it. Sunglasses self portrait.
