Gerhard Richter window in the Cologne Cathedral
Best viewed LARGE.
This modern window was just recently created in the Cologne Cathedral, replacing very basic and rather unsightly windows put in after bombing damage during World War II.
The cathedral was started in 1248 AD but not finished until 1888 AD (not because it was so complicated and challenging-that, too, with towers 155 m/ 500ft high!-but mostly for the lack of money to complete it).
www.dw-world.de/dw/article/0,2144,2754061,00.html describes the controversy around it.
