Simon Falls on the Thompson River
... after crossing the river and hiking another 1/2 mile, I found the descending trail on the left down to Simon Falls. The trail was steep, but not so steep that I was unable to walk it down to the base of the waterfall. There was a variety of tree branches, rhododendron shoots and roots for hand holds on the way down the ridgeline, and they were close to the trail, so that was helpful. I measured the estimated length of descent/ascent to be around 125 - 150 feet. When I arrived, the waterfall struck me as being extremely photogenic with a lot of space at the base. One could easily spend several hours here shooting in multiple perspectives. Although my day began under partly cloudy skies, it was beginning to change with diminishing cloud cover. Soon I would need to leave in order to hopefully make my next destination in good shooting conditions, but I found myself lingering on here.
