Stained, Reclaimed

Monday, February 2nd

Today was an excellent day, and the weather far outshone that of any day previous.

I spent the morning at home then drove -- windows down -- to visit this place called Second Chance -- an architectural salvage center behind Raven's stadium. It's 4 warehouses full of incredible amazing awesome beautiful stuff. Colossal doors, rows of church pews, pulled-off-the-wall fireplace mantels, intricate hand-carved railings and spindles, period hardware, buckets of colorful decorative tile, gorgeous stained glass, and the list could go on. All deconstructed from buildings before they're demolished. If (when) I build a house, I hope this place is still around!

I could have spent hours in there. And a lot of money, too. But it must be the week for sweet deals because I got a piece of an old tin cieling for 5 bucks. It's getting the place of honor above my bed at home. Look for it in a future POD...

Other highlights:

-Dunkin Donuts flatbread: so good!

-Dinner with Dad and Cait: a really funny experience.

-Shopping with Dad and Cait: even funnier.
