Tony Shaw
Tony is Programme Leader for the BA (Hons) Entertainment Design Crafts Programme and lectures in Prop Making, Visual Research and Professional Studies.
Specialist areas include the promotion and development of computer generated imagery on the programme using software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, AutoCAD and 3ds max. The development of working models automata or animatronics is also an area which is developed through the props specialism on the programme.
Over 25 years freelance work initially specialised in scenography including design and construction for theatre shows, musicals and opera up and down the country. It also included prop and model making for ITV and BBC TV productions and interactive display for museums and the heritage industries. Working from his studio in East Cleveland Tony now concentrates on the development of digital media producing animation and images for exhibition advertising and print. Current work includes ‘Logo Evolution’ a short animated film for Northern Film and Media and CGI animation and stills for ‘Standing Stone Production’ in Newcastle to help pitch their proposal for a new game show for BBC 2.
