Lunar Perigee (Perigäum, Mond in Erdnähe)

This photo is taken one day after the lunar perigee from December 12, 2008. Yesterday we had no clear sky.

 

Apogee and perigee refer to the distance from the Earth to the moon. Apogee is the furthest point from the earth. Perigee is the closest point to the earth and it is in this stage that the moon appears larger. See an example on this link: www.moonconnection.com/apogee_perigee.phtml

Am Freitag, den 12.12.2008 strahlte der größte und hellste Vollmond des Jahres am Nachthimmel. Der Mond stand in Erdnähe und erschien bis zu 14 Prozent größer und 30 Prozent heller als andere Vollmonde des Jahres 2008, wie die US-Raumfahrtbehörde Nasa berichtet.

 

In Erdnähe war der Mond am Freitag um 23 Uhr genau 356.570 Kilometer entfernt und damit rund 50.000 Kilometer dichter als in Erdferne.

 

Dies Foto ist allerdings vom 13.12.2008, leider hatten wir gestern einen bewölkten Himmel.
