Mermaid Street, Rye
#80 in Explore on 29th January 2011
Mermaid Street, Rye, looking rather bleak on this wet and windy January afternoon.
The overnight rain might have stopped (at least for some of the day), but the low cloud, mist and fog didn’t go, so we decided just to go into Rye and mooch around. First of all, coffee at The Apothecary (Haydens, our favourite, was shut for refurbishment – shock, horror!). Then we shopped in the delicatessen, the butchers, the chemist, the book shop, the other deli, and the greengrocers – we LOVE shopping in Rye, because it’s still possible to shop for a meal in individual shops without having to go to the supermarket.
