King Henry
I spent a fair bit of time looking up fairies on the internet trying to see how I could create something even remotely masculine for the boys. After a lot of failed searches, I finally hit on "Fairy King", which seemed closest to what I had in mind.
I do wish the "wings" had turned out better. Even with patient Henry I just couldn't get them arranged in person they way the looked in my mind! I had hoped I could get nice long ridges and folds, but netting tends to have a mind of its own.
So, the ingredients to the picture:
The wings - a length of shimmering netting - it is the only thing special purchased.
The crown was made for Zachary's "Frost King" picture.
The collar was for Henry's Henry the VIII costume (no, really, he is! One of eight boy puppies in the litter!).
The Goblet took me many days to make a year or two ago (not a long time, just a lot of days) as I glued strips of Foamie on a cheap plastic Party City "glass", then covered the whole thing in many layers of Gesso, then many layers of gold paint. Each Rhinestone is held on with a glob fabric paint (that glue/paint combo) - allowed to ooze out around the stone - which I think really sells the piece. I made two goblets and two bowls, and I break them out whenever I can find an excuse to do so!
100x in 2019: #46 (green/pink stripped netting)
This is shear netting over black stretchy velvet. It actually came out much nicer as a background than I thought it would!
Post-Processing: Yes, there was a bit - mostly to up the overall clarity, which really accentuates the netting as well as Henry's fur.
119 Pictures in 2019 - #57. "International Fairy Day" (June 24)
