E-3C SENTRY "AWACS"
The E-3 Sentry is an airborne warning and control system aircraft that provides all-weather surveillance, command control and communications. The E-3 is a modified B707/320 airframe with a 30 ft radar dome held 11ft above the fuselage by two struts. It contains a radar subsystem that permits surveillance from the Earth up to the stratosphere. The radar and computer subsystems on the E-3 can gather and present broad and detailed battlefield progress in real time.
