BENGA @ Bananas Repubblik Party
Feat Soggiu, TommyBoy and VJ Rielax.
Originating from Croydon, South London, Benga is widely considered as one of the major pioneers behind Dubstep. Known for fusing the already existing South London Dub sound with emerging East London grime back in the early 00's, Benga has gone on to revolutionize UK electro music with his deep bass lines, house rhythms and drum 'n' bass vibes.
Benga first came to attention after appearing on a BBC Radio 1 documentary at the age of 15, speaking of the emerging Dubstep scene. He created his own record label, Benga Beats, and after producing a number of limited edition mixes and LP's, went on to release his first album Newstep in 2006.
Benga’s 2007 single, Night, has been one of the most successful Dubstep tracks to date and prompted the Tempa label into signing the artist in 2008. Here he released the highly anticipated Diary of an Afro Warrior, which went on to be credited as one of the albums responsible for introducing Dub to the world. Benga has since gone on to record slots with a host of Radio 1 presenters including Gilles Peterson and Mary Ann Hobbs, and has appeared on Pete Tong’s Essential Mix.
Benga, aka Beni Adejumo, is also known for recording as Magnetic Man alongside Artwork and fellow Croydon Dubstep producer, Skream.
Burn Studios was stoked to present Benga’s DJ set at Mercati Generali in Catania, Sicily on 10.
