Early Porsche 911
Here is my replica of early Porsche 911. The prototype is 2.0 Coupé 1964. The scale of the model to the original is 1:13.
This time I wanted it to be as close to the original as it is only possible to make, giving myself the freedom to use any parts that I could find. This was also the first time that I have started projecting the model digitally first, and only after 6 months of endless corrections did I get down to physically building it. Because a streamline body is very hard to achieve using LEGO’s traditional construction techniques, I had to compromise LEGO’s sturdiness to produce a more authentic design by employing building techniques of my own invention that allow to avoid straight-cut corners and boxy forms.
Totally it took about 1 year from the idea to final release.
If you have enough patience and would like to build it for yourself, here is the link to my instructions: iOS preview and PDF.
Also you can purchase this model as a kit with everything inside on Build a MOC website.
NOTE: Here is a modified version with stickers and custom chromed parts. In the instructions I used official LEGO parts only.
